Description

The ancient art of The Alhambra — in your hands

TileKit – Coaster Set is a complete DIY mosaic kit, containing everything you need to create your own geometric mosaic coasters at home. No experience needed, no special tools – just 96 handmade ceramic tiles, quality paints, and as much time as you want to spend with them.

A genuinely unique craft gift for adults

If you’re looking for an unusual gift for someone who appreciates art, design, or making things, this is it. Past customers have bought it as a birthday gift, a Christmas present, a housewarming gift, and as a creative date night activity. It’s compact, beautifully packaged, and arrives with everything the recipient needs. You can also purchase a gift card if you’d like them to choose their own colour palette.

Who it’s for

TileKit works equally well as a solo project, a couples activity at home, or a creative afternoon with friends. It suits people who like puzzles, appreciate craft, or want a mindful activity that produces something genuinely beautiful. Children aged 10 and over can tackle it with some guidance.

Two colour palettes rooted in tradition

Alhambra / Seville — warm ochres, deep greens and ivory whites drawn from the alicatado tilework of Andalusia’s great palaces.

Fez / Marrakesh — rich blues, terracotta and cream inspired by the zellige mosaic tradition of Morocco.

Design with centuries of history behind it

The patterns in the kit are drawn directly from the Islamic geometric art of the Alhambra palace in Granada and the Alcázar in Seville — the same interlocking designs that have decorated their walls for over seven centuries. Working with them isn’t just satisfying as a craft activity; it’s a small window into one of the most sophisticated decorative traditions in the world.

A meaningful Eid or Ramadan gift

For those connected to Islamic culture and heritage, the TileKit carries particular resonance. It makes a thoughtful and unusual gift for Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha — a rare chance to engage hands-on with the geometric art tradition that sits at the heart of Islamic decorative culture. During Ramadan, many people find themselves drawn to creative and reflective evening activities; the TileKit is well suited to this.

For those who want to go deeper

TileKit is an excellent way to understand some of the most important forms in Islamic geometry and how they combine. There are at least 100 known ways to arrange the pieces in this kit. Serious students of Islamic art and geometry will find this kit a useful tool in their education, and may even discover their own patterns.

Made by hand in Barcelona

Every tile is handmade in our studio in Barcelona, Spain. Alhambra Mosaic Studio was founded to bring the geometric art of Andalusia into people’s homes in a form they can engage with directly.

Brilliant kit! Bought it as a birthday present for my mum and she loved it. The instructions were really clear and the final coasters looked amazing.

  2. Steph

My brother isn’t very creative but he likes puzzles so I got him this as a Christmas present. He loved it! He spent hours experimenting with the shapes and coming up with new patterns, he had a lot of fun.

  3. Fatima

I spent the day with my kids figuring out different patterns with these zellige tiles. They’re not old enough to draw with a compass yet! So it’s great to be able to give them an education in Islamic art and geometry.
